Green Flag European breakdown cover

Green Flag sells European cover as a single-trip policy or as an annual add-on to its UK cover. It follows the same contractor-network model abroad, using partner assistance organisations in each country.

Options

Single-trip cover is priced by the day and the vehicle's age, with a per-trip maximum. Annual cover adds a European day allowance to a UK Green Flag policy, with a per-trip cap. Both include the standard European package: assistance, roadside repair, towing, accommodation or hire car, and repatriation.

What stands out

  • Competitive pricing against the patrol operators, especially for annual cover bundled with UK Recovery.
  • A wide territorial list covering mainland Europe and most of the usual holiday destinations.
  • Motorbikes can be covered abroad.

What to check

  • The vehicle age limit for single-trip cover, which is lower than for UK cover.
  • Whether cover begins at home or at the port.
  • Repatriation value limits for older cars.
  • Caravan and trailer inclusion if towing.

How it compares

Against the AA and RAC, Green Flag usually wins on price and loses on the depth of extras such as replacement driver or parts shipping. For a straightforward family holiday in France or Spain it is a sound choice. See the European comparison.
