How the day limits work
A typical annual policy allows up to 90 days in Europe per year, with a per-trip maximum of 30 or 31 days. Some providers offer 60-day or 180-day versions for people who winter abroad. Days are counted from leaving the UK to returning, so a 30-day cap means 30 days door to door.
What is included
Everything in the standard European package — assistance, towing, accommodation, repatriation — plus a UK policy for the rest of the year, usually at roadside-and-recovery level or above. Check the UK level: some annual European products include only basic UK roadside cover and you may need to upgrade.
Who it suits
- Anyone making two or more trips to the continent a year.
- Owners of second homes in France or Spain.
- Caravanners and motorhomers touring in summer and autumn.
- People who want one renewal date and one policy for everything.
Comparing annual policies
The headline price hides four variables: total days abroad, days per trip, the UK cover level included, and the vehicle age cap. Line those up before comparing cost. If you tow, confirm the trailer is covered in both the UK and European sections. The European comparison lists the annual options side by side.
