TomTom Assist breakdown cover

TomTom Assist was launched around 2011 as a budget breakdown product from the sat-nav maker, with the assistance delivered by Mondial Assistance (now Allianz Partners). It is no longer marketed. This page is kept for people who still search for it.

What TomTom Assist offered

The product was a simple, low-priced roadside and recovery policy sold online, aimed at TomTom device owners and pitched below the big-name providers. The attraction was price and a well-known brand; the service was a standard contractor network run by the underwriter. It followed the pattern of other non-motoring brands entering breakdown cover at the time.

Why it disappeared

TomTom's consumer hardware business shrank sharply as phone navigation took over, and non-core products were dropped. Breakdown cover brands that are not backed by a retailer, bank or insurer with an existing customer relationship have found it hard to sustain, and TomTom Assist was no exception. If you hold an old policy document, the cover will have lapsed long ago.
