Asda breakdown cover

Asda sells breakdown cover under its Asda Money brand. As with all supermarket financial products, the retailer sets the price and the tiers while an assistance company underwrites the policy and sends the recovery operator.

How Asda cover works

Tiers follow the standard ladder from roadside-only up to a package with home start, recovery and onward travel, with European cover available as an add-on. Cover is sold for a vehicle or as personal cover, and monthly payment is a core part of the proposition. Policies are serviced by a third-party assistance provider; the name of that provider appears in the policy documents and is worth checking, since it determines who actually turns up.

What stands out

  • Low entry prices on the basic tiers.
  • Monthly payment options without a large deposit.
  • A simple product set with few add-ons.

Where it falls down

Call-out limits, vehicle age limits and exclusions are at the budget end of the market. Motorbikes are not covered. Because the service partner can change, the quality of cover you bought last year is not guaranteed to be the same this year.

Who it suits

Budget buyers with a newer car who want to pay monthly. Compare it directly against Green Flag and Breakdown Direct at the same tier before buying.
