The RAC is one of the UK’s longest-established motoring services. Providing five different levels of breakdown cover, RAC fixes 4 out of 5 cars at the roadside and have around 2,000 patrols - more per member than any other rescue organisation*.

RAC breakdown cover

With RAC breakdown cover, you can take out a policy that covers you and your partner, your whole family or just you. You can also choose to cover your vehicle instead of the driver, so that anyone who drives it will be able to use RAC services.

Information on RAC breakdown cover

The basic RAC service, RAC Roadside, offers help if your car breaks down away from home. If it can’t be repaired at the roadside, the RAC will tow it to the nearest approved garage. The other options are:

• Roadside & Recovery: Everything you’d get with the basic RAC Roadside plan, but you’ll also build up a No Call-out Discount

• Roadside, Recovery & Home Cover: The RAC will repair your car at or near your home.
• Roadside, Recovery, Home Cover & Onward travel: If the RAC can’t repair your car locally, you and up to seven passengers will be taken to your (mainland) destination.
• Roadside, Recovery, Home Cover & Onward travel: With this package you’ll get a replacement car, overnight accommodation or onward travel in an emergency.

RAC European breakdown cover

RAC offer two types of European breakdown cover - Basic European Cover and Comprehensive European Cover. You could benefit from the following:

• RAC will arrange for your car to be fixed at the roadside or towed to the nearest garage in 47 European countries
• English-speaking Incident Managers available 24-hours a day
• They will arrange for you and up to seven passengers and your vehicle to be repatriated to the UK
